De jaargang 2016 kreeg de maximale score van 100 punten van Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate en wordt gezien als een monumentale Mouton. Een flamboyante maar verfijnde wijn met een enorm bewaarpotentieel, die tot de allergrootste Bordeaux wijnen van de moderne tijd gerekend wordt.

“The 2016 Mouton Rothschild is a blend of 83% Cabernet Sauvignon, 15% Merlot, 1% Cabernet Franc and 1% Petit Verdot. Deep garnet-purple in color, it opens with profound notes of cassis, black cherries and plum preserves with touches of espresso, cedar chest, violets and licorice plus hints of tilled earth and cigar box. Medium to full-bodied, the palate is bursting with rich, multilayered black fruits, supported by firm, ripe tannins and finishing very long and minerally. This is a monumental Mouton, flamboyant yet refined, that will age effortlessly for decades.”
